Daily Co-Curricular Activities
Activities for Years 7-13 generally begin at 4.30pm each day, with a number also being run at the weekend. In addition to the wide-ranging programme of activities, pupils also have the chance to take part in sports fixtures (see our Sports page for more detail), drama performances (see our Drama page) and musical performances (see our Music page) and to play their part in the community through the likes of charity fundraising.
Developing the whole child
Aside from giving our pupils the chance to broaden their horizons, our activities programme seeks to develop key life skills. For example, members of the Debating Club learn about communication and logic, members of the St Leonards Enterprise Programme (STEP) enhance their leadership and business awareness skills, while those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme improve their team-working and problem solving capabilities. St Leonards is proud to have the fastest-growing Duke of Edinburgh programme of all Scottish independent schools.
Wide-ranging Activities currently offered include:
- Duke of Edinburgh (Gold, Silver and Bronze)
- STEP (St Leonards Enterprise Programme)
- Musical bands, choirs & ensembles
- Sports and Games
- Art Club
- Creative Writing
- Chess Club
- Crime Club
- Mandarin for Beginners
- Science Club
- Investment Club
- Greek Club
- Horse riding
Other activities can also be offered according to demand. For instance, Rock Climbing, Surfing, Ecological and Astronomy clubs have all run successfully in the past, depending on pupil interest.
Current St Leonards pupils and parents will receive the latest activities timetable via email before the start of each new term.
