St Leonards Pupils Travel to Nepal for Autumn Expedition
23 October
During the October break, 24 pupils from Years 10 to 12 travelled to Nepal for a two-week expedition with Global Action, accompanied by Mr Prosser, Mr Gough and Mrs White.
The trip combined community work, trekking and cultural experiences, giving pupils the chance to learn, connect and challenge themselves in a new environment. The group began their journey in Kathmandu, exploring Durbar Square and local markets before travelling to Pokhara, where they supported a water project at the Nagajuna Modern School. The school is a charity-funded boarding school for orphans and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Pupils donated sports, school and sanitary supplies collected through their own fundraising and CAS project, and spent time getting to know the students there.
The second part of the trip saw pupils take on a multi-day trek through the Annapurna region, with early mornings, steep climbs and incredible views. Highlights included the Poon Hill sunrise, a visit to the Gurkha Welfare Trust, and a final day of reflection at Kopan Monastery before heading home. It was a full and unforgettable experience for everyone involved, with plenty of memories made along the way.
