St Leonards MUN Conference Returns with Rotary Backing

St Leonards School is proud to announce the return of the St Leonards Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, taking place from 6-8 March 2026.

Following the resounding success of the 2024 session, this year’s conference brings together young leaders aged 12-18 to tackle the timely and pressing theme: “Finding Global Solidarity in a Divided World.”

The event has drawn an impressive international cohort, featuring delegates from across Scotland and England, as well as international schools traveling from Prague and Copenhagen. Over the course of three days, students will represent various nations across seven specialised committees, debating complex geopolitical issues and honing their diplomacy and public speaking skills.

In a significant move toward community inclusivity, Rotary St Andrews has generously subsidised conference fees for local state school pupils. This partnership has enabled 19 students from Bell Baxter High School and Madras College to join the prestigious international circuit, broadening their horizons and experiencing the rigors of high-level debate.

To ensure all delegates are prepared for the floor, St Leonards student leaders recently hosted an intensive training session. Participants explored provocative practice topics, ranging from the ethics of colonizing Mars to the future of global hierarchies, to sharpen their critical thinking. One visiting delegate noted that she was “really enjoying herself and was looking forward to coming to the conference in March.”

Beyond the committee rooms, the weekend highlights the culture and historic beauty of St Andrews. The itinerary includes a traditional Scottish Ceilidh, a guided walking tour of the town, a stop at the famous Jannettas Gelateria, and a scenic walk along the Fife Coastal Path.

The 2026 conference is led by a dedicated student Secretariat, including Secretary General Edwin N, President of the General Assembly Lana M, and Head Chairs Cecily P and Daisy F. Their leadership inspires others, and shows how St Leonards continues to provide its pupils with the confidence, global perspective, and practical skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
