Encouraging Healthy Eating Across St Leonards
12 March 2026
Recent nutrition workshops and pupil discussions have helped shape both new menu ideas and the wider food offering across the school.
In boarding, several new hot food options have recently been introduced, including Five Spice Sweet Chilli Banh Mi with pickled vegetables, homemade Tomato and Mascarpone Pasta, Vegetarian Nachos, Roasted Pork Fajitas, BBQ Chicken and Hoisin Honey Beef.
Junior School pupils have also been involved in shaping the food on offer through a recent Agents for Change workshop with Ms Vettese from Sodexo. Members of the Junior School Pupil Council gathered feedback from their classes and shared their ideas directly with the catering team. Pupils explored what makes a healthy snack and designed their own balanced options, while also trialling homemade courgette and pumpkin seed cupcakes, which received a big thumbs up as a new afternoon snack. Pupils also suggested ideas for future menu themes, while the recent move to yoghurt-based desserts has proved popular.
Senior School pupils took part in a separate workshop exploring healthy, sustainable snacks for energy. Looking particularly at the needs of athletes, pupils discussed the role of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and healthy fats before designing their own balanced snack ideas.
These workshops and discussions help ensure that the food served across the school continues to reflect pupil feedback while supporting balanced, nutritious choices.
