Your Gift, Their Opportunity

Every gift makes a difference.

At St Leonards, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and create brighter futures. As we continue to build a community rooted in excellence, inclusivity and opportunity, we invite you to support key initiatives that will have a lasting impact on our pupils and the wider St Andrews community.

Your support helps create opportunities that shape the St Leonards experience, from expanding access through transformative bursaries to enhancing facilities and supporting projects that enrich school life for generations to come.

Below you can explore the different ways to support St Leonards and help shape the future of our school.

Club 1877

Small monthly gifts can make a meaningful collective difference. Club 1877 invites members of the St Leonards community to support the School through a regular gift starting from £18.77 per month.

Founded in 1877, St Leonards has grown from a pioneering school for girls into a fully co-educational school offering International Baccalaureate programmes and a leading Golf Academy. Through Club 1877, Seniors, families and friends can help support the areas that matter most, from caring for our historic buildings to enhancing facilities and enriching everyday experiences for pupils.

Indoor Golf Facility

St Leonards is on an exciting journey to establish a state-of-the-art Indoor Golf Facility This development will not only nurture athletic talent but also inspire a lifelong passion for sport among our pupils, aligning with our commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

This project presents an opportunity to transform our current facilities, offering a cutting-edge environment for golf training and overall wellbeing. With our 150th anniversary on the horizon, this initiative is more than just a building, it’s a legacy that will benefit our students today and for generations to come.

We invite you to join us in bringing this vision to life. Your generous donations will play a crucial role in realising this dream, creating a vibrant and thriving sporting community at St Leonards. Donate today to make a lasting impact on the future of our school and pupils.

Multi-Use Hockey Pitch

St Leonards is seeking £500,000 to build a new, fully floodlit, multi-use astroturf pitch, designed first and foremost for hockey. The pitch will provide a safe, high-quality playing surface for pupils of all ages, while also supporting PE, recreational sport and community use throughout the year.

This facility will enhance wellbeing, expand sporting opportunities, and strengthen pathways into high-level school, university and club sport, creating a lasting benefit for St Leonards and the wider St Andrews community.

Transformational Bursaries

St Leonards was founded in 1877 as a pioneering school for girls and has since grown into a fully co educational school offering internationally recognised International Baccalaureate programmes alongside a distinctive Golf Academy.

We believe strongly in widening access to a St Leonards education. Through our bursary initiatives, we aim to open the door to talented young people who may never have imagined attending the School.

By supporting these initiatives, you help bright and motivated pupils benefit from the opportunities, support and community that define life at St Leonards. Every contribution, large or small, helps make this possible.

Take a seat!

First opened by Princess Alexandra in 1987, the Auditorium is a much loved and performing arts space at St Leonards.  A recent refurbishment has both enhanced the space and increased its capacity from 95 to 116, with the inclusion of stylish new seating.

To build on the success of this transformative project we launched the seat sponsorship campaign, seeking 116 sponsors to help fund the refurbishment of the wider Music School, ensuring it continues to inspire future generations. A donation of £300 secures a seat and the opportunity to personalise it –  whether in honour of a loved one, to mark a special occasion, or simply to show your support for the arts, it is a wonderful way to make a difference.

Leaving a Legacy

Leaving a legacy to St Leonards is one of the most lasting ways to support the School’s future. Since our foundation in 1877, St Leonards has benefited greatly from the generosity of Seniors and Friends, including former parents, colleagues and members of the wider community who have chosen to remember the School in their wills.

Making a bequest is straightforward, though we recommend seeking independent legal advice. A legacy can be written into a new will or added to an existing will, and gifts to the School are exempt from inheritance tax and capital gains tax.

If you have chosen to leave, or are considering leaving, a gift to St Leonards in your will, please let us know by contacting the Development Office at development@stleonards-fife.org or by writing to:

Donations

Support from our generous donors over the years has allowed for the creation of the Science buildings, the refurbishment of our boarding houses, and the restoration of the iconic Clock Tower Chimes in 2012.

Donations have also provided significant support for the Bursary Fund, which allows means-tested fee remissions and ensures a St Leonards education is accessible to as many young people as possible.
