St Leonards Pupils Meet IPCC Chair
17 March 2026
The Year 12 and Year 13 pupils took part in a session with Professor Skea, learning more about his role and the work of the IPCC.
The IPCC, part of the United Nations system, brings together the latest global research on climate change. Its findings inform discussions at Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings, where international priorities and agreements are shaped.
During the session, Professor Skea shared insights into current challenges and the decisions facing governments worldwide. The visit concluded with a dedicated Q&A, where pupils asked questions on a range of climate-related topics.
The session formed part of the University of St Andrews Sustainability Week, bringing together senior pupils from local high schools, including St Leonards, and offering insight into both climate change and potential pathways into related study and careers.
