St Leonards Pupils Recognised in Global Youth Essay Competition

25 February 2026

As part of the recent NNEdPro Global Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health 11th International Summit, St Leonards pupils aged 13–19 were invited to participate in the Global Youth Essay Competition. The initiative provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to develop their critical thinking and writing skills while engaging with important global issues. Participants also had the chance to gain international recognition and access opportunities for mentoring and publication.

NNEdPro’s first Global Youth Essay Competition encouraged students to explore global food, nutrition, and planetary health challenges through this year’s theme, Youth as Agents of Change: Fresh Perspectives and Solutions on Global Food and Nutrition Challenges.

Pupils were invited to engage with real-world topics and structure their essays around one of three broad themes:

  • Food and Nutrition Policy

  • From Human to Planetary Health

  • Nutrition and Health

The competition was divided into two age categories: Junior (ages 13–15) and Senior (ages 16–19). We are delighted to share that nine St Leonards pupils were shortlisted,  an outstanding achievement.

Special congratulations go to Rose H (Year 11), who won the Junior category and to Eva S (Year 11) and Lennja B (Year 11- PreIB) who were named joint second runners-up in the Junior section, while Ginny H (Year 12) achieved joint second runner-up in the Senior category.
