From Year 7, we want to see our pupils make the best of the learning opportunities being presented to them, develop their existing talents and discover new ones. Important organisational skills are developed as the pupils get used to being taught by separate subject specialists in different classrooms.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) is taught across Years 7, 8 and 9.
Subjects studied in these years include English, Maths, French, Spanish, German, Latin, History, Geography, Drama, PE, Latin, Comparative Religion, Music, Art and ICT. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught as separate disciplines, as is Design.
In Years 8 and 9, all pupils choose two languages. This is part of the overall process of allowing pupils to make informed choices for their GCSEs, which they begin in Year 10.
All year groups receive PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and careers guidance via timetabled lessons.
rounded development
As they move into the Senior section, pupils have every opportunity to take part in a full range of co-curricular activities. For instance, St Leonards teams play regular competitive matches in sports including rugby, hockey and lacrosse. In addition, pupils can play in a multitude of musical bands and ensembles, sing in our school choirs, perform on stage in drama productions, and participate in their choice of clubs and activities, whether they are interested in debating, computing, running, Mandarin, creative writing or something else entirely!Visit St Leonards
