In Year 10, pupils begin a two year GCSE programme before sitting final examinations at the end of their Pre-IB year (Year 11).

The core subjects include English, a modern foreign language (French, Spanish or German), Religious Studies (this is ideal preparation for the IB Diploma programme Theory of Knowledge component) , Maths and a balanced Science course featuring Physics, Chemistry and Biology (pupils can take these as separate GCSE subjects or as part of Science GCSE). Pupils can then choose from a range of optional subjects which includes: Art & Design, Geography, History, PE, Drama, Music, Latin and a second language.

We recognise the importance of subject selections, so full consultation between parents, teachers and pupils takes place before final decisions are reached.

GCSE and IGCSE qualifications are recognised worldwide and are the perfect preparation for the IB Diploma and IB Diploma Certificates programme.

In Years 10 and Pre-IB (Year 11), pupils also receive a comprehensive programme of ICT, PSHE and PE lessons.

IGCSEs are offered in a number of subjects in Pre-IB2 where it is felt that they provide the best quality of learning. In addition, pupils on the Pre-IB1 course sit a mixture of GCSE and IGCSE courses.
