Book Week 2020 really was a blast! There were lots of exciting events in the Junior School to promote and celebrate reading, which climaxed with the Character Parade on World Book Day (Thursday, 5 March).
Pupils and staff alike enjoyed talks and workshops from visiting author Mr Robert Harris, stories at break and lunch each day, an Inter-House Read-A-Thon, visits to Waterstones to use their World Book Day tokens, and last, but by no means least, a fabulous Character Parade to raise money for Book Aid International. There were some fantastic costumes ranging from Harry Potter to the Gruffalo, Pippi Longstocking to Where's Wally, and Matilda to Billionaire Boy. In total, the creative costumes raised £171.00 for Book Aid International and this will enable 85 books to be purchased to help combat illiteracy around the world.
Many thanks to the teachers who organised the various different events, and ensured that Book Week 2020 was such a success... the pupils have certainly caught the reading bug!
