22.03.21 : Steps to Sustainability

St Leonards is now the proud owner of a large number of tiger worms, who have taken up residence in the new wormery. The worms will munch their way through food waste and turn the apple cores and banana skins leftover from snack time into compost that will be used in the school garden.

These new additions form the latest step in our journey to becoming a more sustainable school. Already, pupils and staff care for our bee colonies, tend to vegetables and plants in the St Leonards Croft, garden in the grounds and in our polytunnels and, with the help of our school caterers, Thomas Franks, keep food miles low by shopping local.
