Polar Bear Club is intended to encourage the children to try something new, to realise that they are capable of more than they might imagine, and to have fun. To become a fully-fledged member, the pupils must do five 'dooks' in the sea over a two-year period.
The weather could not have been more perfect for our Polar Bear Club members' first 'dook' in the sea. The children made their way down to the beach wrapped in towels and then, with cheers of encouragement from onlookers, dipped down to chest height in a huddle with their friends. They were then piped back to school where they enjoyed warming mugs of hot chocolate. The children are already excited for their next 'dook'!
