The Year 9 and Year 12 geographers set off for a weekend in Blackpool and Malham on Saturday, 21 April, taking in a whole range of attractions in the seaside town as well as working on their field sketching and data collection skills.
The pupils had a fantastic from the minute they checked in to pitch-side rooms at Blackpool Football Club Hotel.
A guided tour around Blackpool town centre allowed pupils to investigate and understand what the tourist industry can bring to an area. They collected data regarding land use and experienced the delights of the Central Pier first hand.
The next stop was Malham, deep in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, where the group enjoyed hikes in the countryside whilst learning more about limestone pavements and waterfalls.
Thank you to the Geography Department for organising such a successful trip, and to Breanna Hawden and Emily Seymour-Dale for demonstrating terrific leadership skills, and using the experience to work towards their CAS project as part of the IB Diploma.
