St Leonards quad rang out with shrieks and cries of joy as students recently celebrated top class GCSE results after a nervous summer long wait! Students in Year 11, known as Pre-IB, managed to turn in an impressive set of results, with 32% achieving 6 or more A*/A passes. Emilie Rapport Munro did incredibly well gaining straight A* results in ten subjects, and Oliver Eve, Laura Ferrier and Rebecca Scott all achieved straight A*/A.
Each year students in Year 10 are given the chance to sit selected GCSEs one year early if they are felt to be ready for it. This year 21 pupils sat the Maths paper early, with – remarkably 19 gaining an A* or A. Ines Hayward-Daventry in Year 10 also gained an A* in IGCSE Dutch and Mikkel Kristensen in Year 9 achieved an A* in IGCSE French.
A number of pupils taking a special one-year pre-IB course – available at St Leonards as preparation for the IB Diploma - also sat GCSEs and IGCSEs, turning in a flurry of top grades.
Dr Michael Carslaw, said, “I’m delighted for all of our pupils, and their teachers, who have worked hard to achieve a good set of results.”
