Pupils in the Junior School enjoyed an entertaining and informative talk and demonstration from Destination Judo during Wednesday morning Assembly.
Blackbelt instructor Jake, who already teaches judo to some of the Junior School children, took the opportunity to talk about the benefits of participating in judo and explained how it is the main sport in Japan, with many school children practising every day.
Judo also has connections closer to home, and Jake explained that it was the strongest sport for Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with 13 of the 14 Scottish entrants winning medals.
All age groups were very enthusiastic when it came to volunteering to take part in Jake’s judo demonstration and with a taster session planned for the Junior School, there will be further opportunities for any child who is interested in trying judo to have a go.
Further details of the judo sessions can be obtained from Mrs Dewar in the Junior School.
A big thank you to Jake and all at Destination Judo for taking the time to visit us.
