St Leonards enjoys an unrivalled seaside location, and is just a two minute walk from the East Sands and a fifteen minute walk from the West Sands.
The Junior pupils enjoy regular visits to the beach as part of their curriculum learning. Last week, the pupils enjoyed beachcombing, building dens in the dunes, practising their place value in the sand, and paddling in the sea. In addition, last week, the Junior pupils enjoyed a special programme of 'back to school' activities, many of which took place on the beach. This exciting programme of activities included a Sandcastle Competition and a recreation of the iconic Chariots of Fire run on the West Sands.
The Year 12 pupils also enjoyed a trip on the beach earlier this term to try their hand at a number of water sports, as part of the Sixth Form induction programme. The wet weather didn't dampen their spirits, and the pupils had a fantastic afternoon developing their teamwork skills and meeting new friends. It was certainly a memorable start to their Sixth Form experience!
