St Leonards Junior School celebrated World Book Day with a very special assembly. Boys and girls dressed up in creative costumes from their favourite books, and treated the audience to a parade of characters from Fiction, Non Fiction and Poetry (also celebrating the beginning of StAnza, Scotland's International Poetry Festival). Characters spotted in the assembly hall included Paddington Bear, Sherlock Homes, Winston Churchill, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Harry Potter, Maid Marion, sporting heroes, we even had two Year 6 students who arrived as ‘the owl and the pussy cat’ in an actual pea green boat!
Teachers were also dressed for the occasion and the festivities continued throughout the day with a bumper Book House Quiz, and our Year 2 class visited Toppings Bookshop to learn about the different genres of writing. The school raised a total of £149.53 for Book Aid International.
