Sport at St Leonards

Sport at St Leonards is for all. The school calendar is punctuated by competitive fixtures, inter-island competitions, sports days, swimming galas and more. The Golf Programme is sector leading, hockey, rugby, tennis and swimming are strong, and St Leonards is known the world over as the “cradle of lacrosse”.

Sporting Excellence & Wellbeing

Pioneering from the outset, St Leonards has continued to go from strength to strength on the sports field and golf course over the years, founding the St Leonards-Madras Blues community youth rugby partnership in 2017, and producing national and international sportspeople in everything from hockey to lacrosse, rugby, golf, rifle shooting and cross country running.

Team and individual sports are an integral part of a healthy and active lifestyle at St Leonards. They play a crucial role in developing key life skills such as discipline, respect, teamwork, and determination. Emphasising the importance of communication and resilience, both our Junior and Senior teams regularly compete against other schools in a broad spectrum of sporting fixtures.

Our state-of-the-art facilities cater to all levels of athletic interest and ability, featuring extensive grass playing fields, all-weather pitches, squash courts, a 25m indoor swimming pool, and a gymnasium. These facilities support our holistic approach to education, promoting fitness and wellbeing among our students.
