On Tuesday 28th April, 100 school pupils from Fife and beyond took part in an intense contest, 25 different schools competed in the 19th annual Techno Challenge hosted by St Leonards. Taking part in a range of Science, Maths, ICT and Literary related tasks.
The popular event provided a real test of all round skills for the children as they constructed rockets, tackled a series of Maths puzzles, tested their knowledge of authors, books and words and used their ICT skills to create a film trailer.
At the end of an action packed day, the team from the Mary Erskine & Stewart’s Melville Jnr School was the winner of the large school section, with Fettes College Prep School runners up, and Balmerino Primary School took the honours in the small schools section, with Falkland Primary School taking second place.
Dan Barlow, Head of Years 8 & 9 at St Leonards, said, “The activities are designed to both challenge the children and enable them to have fun as well. It’s always lovely to welcome pupils and staff from other schools who are so enthusiastic and had beaming smiles on their faces throughout the day.”
